Experienced in molecular biology and molecular genetics techniques including advanced PCR-based methods for mutation detection, Southern and Dot-blot hybridizations, non-radioactive DNA sequencing, molecular cloning, mammalian cell culture, lipid-based transfection and electroporation, gene reporter assays, RT-PCR, as well as SDS-PAGE, Western blotting, ELISA and other protein chemistry and immunological techniques

Research interest:
Molecular genetics of the human cancer including gene silencing of overexpressed genes and mutated oncogenes in human cancer cells by RNA interference, in vitro and in vivo gene delivery, site-specific gene replacement strategies, in vitro models for gene therapy of human cancer, cancer stem cells research

On-going and recently conducted research activities under the supervision or leading by Dr. Sasho Panov:
• Investigations of the proapoptotic effects of RNA-interference-induced silencing of the BCL-2, survivin and NF-kB genes in human cancer cell lines • Identification of the overexpression of UHRF-1 and p53 gene and microsatellite instability in uropeithelial cancers • Molecular detection of early apoptosis and genotoxic lesions with single-cell gel electroohoresis (Comet-assay) in experimental hypothyreotic rat models • Quantitative determination of few classes of Matrix-metalloproteinases mRNAs in colo-rectal cancer samples • Molecular identification of mutations and polymorphisms in the promoter regions of Matrix-metalloproteinase genes in patients with periapical lesions • Detection of mutations in alpha-synucelin gene in patients with Parkinson disease • Detection of polymorphisms and mutations in apolipoprotein genes in patients with cerebro-vascular insults • Detection of mutations in the EFHC1 gene in patients with Juvenile myoclonic epilepsy • Molecular investigations of some gene polymorphisms in LPL and ApoCIII genes frequency in correlation with coronary artery disease in Republic of Macedonia • Detection of common mt4977 deletion in mitochondrial genome in cervical cancer • Fluorescent in situ hybridization (FISH) and PCR-based detection and genotyping of Human papillomavirus (HPV) infection in patients with cervical lesions

Collaborator in a research project (sponsored by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Macedonia): Investigation of the possibilities for non-invasive diagnostics of the urinary bladder cancer.

Applicative Activities:
Establishing of the diagnostic tests for PCR-based detection and RFLP-based genotyping of human papillomavirus in cervical swabs from gynecology patients. Responsible for supervision and results controls in the Molecular Biology Lab of more than 14000 (as of Nov 2008) diagnostic tests on patients' samples from the clinics and private ordinations.
Elected as invited expert and part-time supervisor for molecular biological and immunological techniques for control of the vaccines, intravenous fluids and blood products at the Drug Control Department of the Republic Institute for Health Protection in Skopje.
Nominated as Expert at the United Nation FAO Macedonian Unit for Avian Influenza Virus infection detection.
