Degree Programs

Undergraduate Studies

The Institute of Biology offers the following undergraduate programs:

• Biology
• Biochemistry and Physiology
• Ecology
• Molecular Biology
• Biology-Chemistry (joint program with the Institute of Chemistry).

During 2016, new re-accreditations have been prepared for the existing study groups, as well as new accreditations for studies (programs) in Molecular biology and Genetics (replacing the existing Molecular Biology program) and studies in Nutrition. The existing and the new programs will be offered from September 2018.

Postgraduate Studies (Master)

The Institute of Biology organizes studies in the following Master's programs (accredited in the academic year 2009/10 and reaccredited in 2012):

• Ecology and Taxonomy (with a choice of Teaching, Ecological or Taxonomic module)
• Biochemistry and Physiology
• Molecular Biology.

The studies last one year and are compliant with the recommendations of the Bologna Convention.

During 2016, new study programs at the second cycle were designed, proposed and accredited as follows:

• Biology Education
• Ecology and Biosystematics (with a choice of Ecology or Biosystematics module)
• Biochemistry and Physiology
• Molecular Biology and Genetics (with a choice of Molecular Biology or Genetics module)
• Forensic Biology.

The implementation of these programs will start from September 2018.

Postgraduate Studies (PhD)

The Institute of Biology, within the School for Doctoral (Third Cycle) Studies at the Ss. Cyril and Methodius University in Skopje, offers the following PhD programs (accredited in 2015):

• Biochemistry and Physiology
• Taxonomy
• Ecology
• Molecular Biology
