The development of the Institute of Biology was followed by continuous renewal and enrichment of the book fund of the library. In jubilee 2016, the library had 12965 monographic publications and 838 titles of domestic and foreign serials, as well as a number of books, scripts, and scripts written by the academic staff of the Institute. The library also has samples of defended doctoral dissertations, master's and specialist articles. It should be noted that most of the fund available to the library are books and journals purchased in the past. The enrichment of the book fund in the past period was carried out through procurements from the Institute's funds, postgraduate studies, and some of the available literature in recent years was also obtained through the Government's Project for translation of university textbooks.
As a result of the exchange with the paper Biologia Macedonica (previously Annual Biology) published by the Institute of Biology, and now, as in the past, the majority of titles are obtained, first of all, in serial publications, and the exchange is currently done with more of 150 scientific institutions, of which the largest part is from abroad. In recent years, many titles have been received as a result of a gift and donation of books by retired teaching staff and Institutions with which the Institute of Biology has established cooperation, such as the German foundation "Deutschen Forschungsgemenin-schaft", which donated several titles from the contemporary mycological literature and other biological areas.
